Appointments System

An appointment system is in operation and patients can pre-book to see the doctor of their choice by making an appointment with the receptionist up to eight weeks in advance. This can be made by telephone and speaking to a receptionist, calling into the surgery or using our on-line services.

You can also use our automated booking system by telephone  at any time of the day, to book, cancel or check an appointment. Patient Partner is an automated booking system that can be accessed any time of the day to book, cancel or check an appointment by dialing the surgery number and selecting option 1.

All other appointments are available on a day-to-day basis and patients should telephone the surgery on the day they require the appointment to check availability.

Please note, one patient per appointment.

Doctors see patients in the morning and early evening. Due to the changing rota of doctor duties please ask at the reception for the surgery times for the doctor you wish to see.

The reception staff are available to answer your queries either over the telephone or in person from 08:00 to 19:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 to 18:30 on a Friday.

The Lakes Medical Centre is a training practice. Foundation Year 2 doctors work with the Practice during four month placements. These doctors are hospital trained and have been qualified doctors for a number of years. During the time at the practice they learn to apply their skills within the community. We hope you will be happy for these Doctors to play a part in your care but if you have any concerns about this please inform the Receptionist and we will respect your wishes.

Patients who arrive late for their appointment may have to rebook for another day and time.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before Midday if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance. In common with most medical practices, we respectfully request that visits are only requested for patients who are permanently Housebound. Poorly children especially should not be kept at home waiting for a doctor to visit but should be wrapped up and brought into surgery where they will be seen quickly and usually have had one or two doses.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Please note if you call within 1 hour of your appointment this will be considered a missed appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
